ENGLER, Gerhard (Garry) Ludwig
Our beloved father, grandfather and husband; Garry Ludwig entered into the presence of the Lord while reading his Bible on May 19th 2021. He was born on December 23rd 1941 in Meisterswalde, Germany to Ludwig and Margarete Engler. He accepted his savior at a Billy Graham sponsored event when he was a teenager. His family immigrated to Canada in 1957, he met his wife Connie in Edmonton on a blind date and they were married October 19th 1968. They went to Bible school together in the US and then worked with several Christian Ministries in Germany and Scotland in the early years. Garry farmed near Manola over a period of 13 years and pastored the Rich Valley Church for about 6 years. In 1990, Gary, Connie and Gail went back to Scotland to work with gospel literature outreach, returning to Canada in 1992 Garry pursued his masters of Christian Ministry and graduated in 1994. He then worked with International students Ministry Canada in Regina, Saskatchewan until 2017 and was well loved by all of his students. As always, he was very involved in his local church. He retired with Connie to Barrhead in 2017, where his Parkinson’s disease worsened and lived his final days at the Keir Care Center in Barrhead where he still prayed and comforted those in need. He will be missed by all of his family and friends. “Well done good and faithful servant” Mt 25:23.
He is survived by his loving family, wife of nearly 53 years; Connie, children Pamela (Richard) Franklin, Erich (Ruth) Engler, Gail (James) Verheul, grandchildren; Nathan Franklin, Stephen Franklin, Julia Franklin, Daniel Engler, Sarah Engler, Issaac Engler, Jonathan Verheul, Charrissa Verheul, Joshua Verheul, Phillip Verheul, their Korean daughter Jo and Alwa Al-Robiai, Sarah, Novah, Elias and Samuel, Garry is also survived by his siblings; Werner (Betty) Engler, Waltrout (Ulrich) Bockemule, Hilde Engler and Ursula Gross.
Garry is predeceased by his parents; Ludwig & Margarete Engler, Stepmother; Berta Engler, sister; Cristel Weibe, brothers-in-law; Peter Wiebe, Sigfried Engler, Otto Gross, granddaughter; Annalise Franklin.
We would like to thank the amazing staff at the Keir care center and Dr. Tawfik for all the love and care they gave to Garry.
Due to the many complications laid out by COVID-19, a private service has taken place. Donations in Garry’s memory can be made to Bethel Bible Camp.
