Henry “Hank” Charles Espeseth

Early in the morning of April 25, our sweet husband, dad, and papa — Henry Charles Espeseth -- took his final breath. Although we are sad, we are grateful his pain has ended. Thanks to the compassionate care of the nurses in palliative care, he died comfortably and peacefully in his sleep with loved ones at his side.

Henry, or Hank as he was commonly called, was born on the family farm north of Bloomsbury, Alberta. On March 3, 1937, Hank joined the family of Severt and Susan (Sureman) Espeseth, becoming one of the younger siblings. Raised with an ethic of hard work, caring, and honesty, the children, at a young age, became part of the team that worked the family farm.

As an adult, Hank began work in the nearby town of Barrhead, where he made his most notable mark in restaurant business, especially when he opened a drive-in restaurant which was an up-and-coming business in the early 1960s.

In 1975, he married Sharon Augustson of Edmonton. Together they raised three children. Hank is survived by his children, Michael Espeseth; Christie and Donnie Badry (Abagail, Sadie, and Lacey); Jennifer and Rob Bayes (Isabella, Logan and Caleb). Hank is also survived by his sister Dorothy, his brother Ted, and several nieces and nephews whom he loved.

Hank was predeceased by his parents; his brothers Albert, Bill, Norman and Jim; his sisters Frances and Stella and an infant.
A prayer service will be held at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Barrhead at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28. A viewing will be offered before and after the prayer service starting at 6:30 p.m.

Funeral to be held on April 29 at 1:00 p.m. with lunch to follow in the church hall. No burial at this time. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to AHS Barrhead Community Healthcare Centre Acute Care or a charity of your personal choice.
