ETHIER, Gwendolyn “Gwen” (née Redhead)

It is with great sadness that the family of Gwen announces her passing on February 9, 2022, at the age of 69.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 47 years, Leo; children Colin (Kelly) and Michelle; grandchildren, Xander and Mackenzie, and Parker; siblings, Gary(Laura), Lenore (Leigh), Roberta (Warren), Joan (Fred), Jacqui (Rob), Richard (Leslie), Ian, and Gord (Joan); sister-in-law Yvonne; brother-in-law Denis (Joy); numerous relatives and friends.

Gwen was predeceased by her parents, Dorothy, Margaret, and Gordon; brother Murray; son-in-law Patrick; and brother-in-law Ray.

Gwen grew up in Regina, SK, and moved to Edmonton to pursue her career in nursing. She attended the Royal Alexandra Hospital School of Nursing and graduated as an RN. She went directly into working in the operating room where she worked passionately for the next 25 years. Throughout Gwen’s career she worked at the Royal Alexandra, University of Alberta and the Athabasca Hospitals. After 35 years of her dedicated nursing career, Gwen retired where she devoted her time to her family. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, friend and caregiver who gave selflessly to those who needed her.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday June 4, 2022, at St. Albert Funeral Home, 9Muir Drive.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation.
