Merle Geneva Galbraith (Allen, nee Williams)
July 9, 1926 - December 23, 2022
The family of Merle sadly announces Merle’s peaceful passing after a long and full life.
She is survived by her son Glen (Barbara), her granddaughter Lisa Allen (Mark Prefontaine), her grandson Jarymy Allen (Kalie Sampson), and her three great-grandchildren Gavin Allen-Prefontaine, Kylee Allen-Prefontaine and Steel Allen and sister-in-law Doreen Allen.
Merle was predeceased by her first husband Victor Allen, her second husband Ian Galbraith and her son Brian Allen.
She enjoyed many years as a teacher in Sangudo area and Red Deer but retired back to the Sangudo area to farm with Ian. Merle and Ian travelled extensively taking farm tours and square dancing tours. They enjoyed meeting new people and observing farming methods in other countries. They were active in the Sangudo Church and remained active in the Barrhead Church upon retirement. Merle spent many years singing with Versatiles and the Church choir and enjoyed playing the organ until recently.
She has requested no funeral and a private family ceremony will be held at a later time. Donations can be made to the Barrhead United Church or
a charity of your choice.
