William Paul Glebe
June 4, 1940 – October 4, 2021
William Paul Glebe was born at the Westlock Hospital on June 4, 1940 to William and Bula Glebe. He lived his entire life on the home farmstead at Pickardville until the past nine months of hospitalization.
On October 27, 1962 he married Lilley Wendland. They were blessed with two sons, Kevin William (Judy Helmig) and Vernon Paul (Lori Johnson). He also had two grandsons, Dylan Paul Glebe (Shay Girard) and Connor John Glebe (Jadeene Wolfe), to hold in his heart. Bill was a wonderful, devoted husband, father and grandfather. The care and support of his family was his priority.
Bill was a farmer all of his life. He attended The Vermillion School of Agriculture, graduating in 1961. Farming was his life. He loved the cycle of seeding, growth and harvest and particularly enjoyed caring for his cattle herd. The care of the land was important to him, a heritage which he celebrated with his family in 2019, when the family farm established by his parents, marked its’ 100th anniversary.
Bill was always active in the community, Pickardville United Church, Camp Mac, and as a 4-H leader in the Double Diamond 4-H Club. In the slow winter months Bill always enjoyed curling and later in his life enjoyed watching the Toronto Blue Jays win and lose. He and Lilley enjoyed travel and winter breaks in Victoria and Hawaii. Many cruises were also enjoyed but a special trip to Kenya to visit a friend with a group from Pickardville was always a highlight, the best trip ever.
Bill will be sadly missed but we will love him and hold him in our hearts forever.
He is predeceased by his parents, William and Bula Glebe and his three brothers: Floyd (Annie), Charley (Kristi) and Douglas Glebe; nephew Lesley Glebe (Sherry)
Bill is survived by his loving family, sister-in-law Eileen Glebe; as well as nieces, nephews and many friends.
We would like to thank Dr. Mydeen and the staff of the Westlock Healthcare Center and the Westlock Continuing Care Center for their compassionate care of Bill and us as a family these past nine months.
