Gordon Sawchuk passed away July 27, 2023 at
10:03 AM in the Athabasca Hospital with his wife,
Barbara, by his side.
He was born October 17, 1935 at the
Athabasca Hospital and was the fourth child of
Nancy and Michael Sawchuk. Gordon was raised on
the family’s farm west of Athabasca, along with his
brothers: William ,Walter, Michael and his sister Anne.
Him and his brothers worked the farm and also had
a road construction business that built many of the
roads in the community.
Gordon met Barbara Angus and they were married
on April 23, 1966. They lived west of Athabasca near
Gordon’s home farm. Gordon and Barbara had
two children: Beverly and Denny.
Gordon Sawchuk is survived by his wife of 57 years
Barbara; his daughter Beverly; his son Denny (Cindi);
and his two grandchildren: TJ and Ali.
He was predeceased by his father Michael (1955)
and his mother Nancy (1985); his brothers: William,
Walter and Michael; and his sister Anne.
A Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, August 1, 2023
at 1:30pm at the Athabasca Reformed Church with
Pastor Al Plat officiating.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Stars
Ambulance in Gordon Sawchuk’s name.
