Leonard Walker Greenwood

Leonard Walker Greenwood of Barrhead, formerly of Sangudo and Glenister passed away peacefully on Sunday July 30, at the age of 93 years.

Leonard was a lifelong farmer. He was proud of the fact that the family farm is in the fifth generation. He was an early riser and worked hard everyday. Over the years Leonard, raised pigs, milked cows, had purebred Shorthorn cattle and grain farmed. He loved animals, especially horses.

Leonard was community minded and was involved in many clubs and activities in the area.

Leonard loved music and played accordion from the age of 15 to 90. He was in a band, playing for weddings and dances around the local countryside. He entertained at many senior homes and played on floats in parades as well.

Leonard is survived by his loving family, daughters Heather Thompson, Anna Greenwood, Elaine Shuck (Steve Andriuk) and son Allan (Sandy) Greenwood and Leonard’s special friend Rikie Feringa.

He is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Bryce (Leanne) Shuck, Ryan Shuck (Jenna Selzler), Kirk (Rachel) Shuck, Justin Thompson (Sheena Prokipchuk), Brandon (Brianne) Thompson, Kirk Kindleman, Annick Greenwood (Spencer Tessman), Jayden Greenwood.

He is survived by 11 great grandchildren: Parker, Cameron, Andon, Jack, Hannah, Layla and Cooper Shuck, Walker, Pearse, Josie and Olive Thompson and other extended family members.

Leonard is predeceased by his wife Dorothy of 55 years, parents Walker and Olive Greenwood, and sister Edna (Gordon) Lappin.
