David James Hamilton

18 August 1955 – 07 February 2022

We are truly saddened to announce that David James Hamilton of Barrhead, Alberta passed suddenly on Monday, 07 February 2022.

He is survived by his daughter, Katelyn Hamilton; mother, Anne Hamilton; his siblings; Corinne McMillan (Chuck); Lorna Schafer (Allan) and Warren Hamilton (Lynn); nieces, Simone and Clara Hamilton and nephews, Johnathan and Andrew McMillan. David will be dearly missed by his many friends and other relatives.

David was predeceased by his wife, Patti-Lynne Hamilton and father, Robert Stanley Hamilton.

David attended high school in Barrhead, where he excelled academically receiving numerous Student of the Year awards and achieving national recognition by winning the 1973 ‘CBC Reach for the Top Championship’ in Ottawa. David completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery(DDS) from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Alberta in June of 1979. After graduating, David moved back to his hometown of Barrhead where he practiced dentistry for over 40 years. In the first 15 years of his professional career, David shared his dental practice with his father, Robert (Bob), who was a mentor and friend. David was the true epitome of a professional as he would never sacrifice quality of work for any reason. He was well respected by patients, work colleagues and classmates in the Faculty of Dentistry.

David was the true example of a renaissance man as he not only was well-educated and well read, he immersed himself in the arts through the Barrhead musical community and madrigal choral group. David loved attending the symphony, Broadway Musical productions, and especially, the Edmonton Fringe Theatre Festival.

David’s love for travel and sunshine took him to Mexico and the Caribbean over 30 times in the past 40 years, He also travelled to Australia and New Zealand in addition to Thailand and Vietnam. And most recently to London, England where his daughter is attending University.

As friends and family know, David was the entertainer extraordinaire as he hosted many holiday events and frequent dinner parties for family and friends. David professed to be a wine connoisseur and encouraged everyone to try his famous margaritas and negronis. We all probably remember the sound of ice crushing in his professional grade blender!

David’s family would like to thank his many friends who loved and supported him throughout his lifetime. Expressions of sympathy and condolences may be left at RoseGardenChapel.com
