Cornelis (Case) Hamoen
October 11, 1943 – August 4, 2021
In His perfect time, the Lord called His child, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to eternal glory. Case was born on October 11, 1943 in Utrecht, The Netherlands, and immigrated to Canada with his parents and siblings in 1948. They settled in the Neerlandia area, eventually establishing a mixed hog/grain farm northwest of Vega. Case married the love of his life, Dinie Vogelzang, on June 9, 1967. The Lord blessed their marriage with 7 children, 25 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Case and Dinie took over the home farm from his parents in 1972, where they raised hogs and grain until they retired and moved to Barrhead in 2007, passing on the farms to their sons Adrian and Ken. Case was active in church and community life, living his life in service to his Lord, quietly and faithfully serving wherever Christ called him. He entered his eternal rest on August 4, 2021 at the age of 77.
Case will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Gerritdina (Dinie) Hamoen; children Elaine (Ed) Aikema, Adrian (Jacqueline) Hamoen, Joanne (Ed) DeRuiter, Helena (Kurtis) Olthuis, Marie (Gert) Steenbergen, Ken (Maria) Hamoen, Darlene (Bert) Steenbergen; grandchildren Tyler (Colette), Kyle, Bryan (Kathrine), Carissa (Jason), Caitlin, Brett (Erika), Melinda, Rae-Lynn (Michael), Dyllan, Cara, Janelle, Bradley, Amy (Ryley), Laura, Pieter, Randy, Tara, Lucas, Justin, Meaghan, Keaton, Garnett, Natalie, Tyson, Jenna; great-grandchildren Dominic, Emma, Naomi, Angelica, Natasha, baby A, Paisley; step-sisters-in-law Jean, Kinie, and Tina Selles; step-brother and sister-in-law Bill & Lorraine Selles; brother- and sister-in-law George & Jenny Wemekamp; sisters-in-law Alie Vogelzang, Rikie Feringa, Freddie Peters, Casey Vogelzang; his many nieces and nephews and valued friends.
Case was predeceased by his mother Everdina Hamoen; father and step-mother Adrian & Henrietta Hamoen; brother and sister-in-law Adrian & Elizabeth Hamoen; brother-in-law Albert Mast; sister and brother-in-law Annie & Fred Dofka; step-brothers Kees, Pieter, and Joe Selles; brothers-in-law Bill Vogelzang, John Vogelzang, Joe Peters; nephews Leonard Hamoen, John Peters and Bob Wemekamp.
Funeral service will be held, at 1:00 PM. on August 10, 2021 in the Neerlandia Canadian Reformed Church, Rev. G. Veurink officiating. Interment to follow in the Neerlandia cemetery.
