KIDD, RONALD JAMES

February 11, 1941 - December 10, 2020

Ron shared a well lived and well loved life with his wife of 53 years, Judy (nee Frey). He had an endless love for his family who will miss him greatly; their sons, Darren (Breanne) and Murray (Janel); and sweetest grandchildren, Mason, Maisy, Errol, Nora, and Theo.

Cherishing so many memories of a shared life of hard work and fellowship is his brother, Bruce (Bonnie). The two brothers lived their entire lives in the same farm yard. Many generations of nephews, nieces, and cousins are left with stories and memories. Judy’s brother, Greg; sisters, Jackie and Sandy and their families were also a big part of Ron’s life.

Ron was predeceased by his father and mother, Lionel (1943), and Annie (1990); sister, Gert (1999); and brother, Robert (2020); sisters-in-law, Betty and Edna; brothers-in-law, Gerry and Ken; along with several nieces and nephews. Ron was proud of the fact he was born on the same farm where he lived his entire life. After attending Vermilion School of Agriculture (Class of 1960) he returned home and in 1962 formed a farming partnership, Kidd Bros., with his brothers, Robert and Bruce. In 2013 they celebrated 100 years on the original Lionel Kidd homestead farm which is still operating with his nephews, Larry and Bob. Through the years Ron took a leadership role in many community organizations. The Kinsmen Club of Mayerthorpe, Paddle Valley Products Ltd., and the Whitecourt-Ste. Anne P.C. Association were some of his main interests. As the Councillor for Division 6 in Lac Ste. Anne County for 21 years (1992-2013) he contributed to the betterment of the area in so many ways. He was a kind, honest and well-respected man who will be missed by his many friends and family from near and far. A special thank you to the staff at the Mayerhorpe Healthcare Centre for their dedicated care of Ron for the past 7 weeks as he battled the final stages of Alzheimer’s disease.

Cremation has taken place. Due to Covid restrictions there will be no service at this time. Donations in Ron’s memory can be made to the charity of your choice. Photos, memories, and condolences may be shared through www.parkmemorial.com
