The world lost a very special
person on February 8, 2023.
Katherine Lois Kochan (Poyser)
lived a full and hardworking life as
a daughter, sister, mother, spouse,
aunt and grandmother. She passed away peacefully at the age
of 67 with family beside her.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 45 years,
Ronald; her children Candice (David), Leslie (Anna-Marie), and
Melaney (Reid). She was a proud grandmother to Henry, Cleo,
Griffin, Bridget, and Mabel. She will be lovingly remembered
by her mother Gladys; siblings Harold, Annette (Glen), Murray,
and their children. Katherine was close with her in-laws, Jim
(Valerie), Dianne (George), and their children.
Katherine enjoyed a busy life raising her three children
on the family farm near Flatbush, south of where she was
raised in Hondo. She was actively involved in a multitude of
organizations, volunteer work, and never hesitated to support
the community. Katherine loved all animals, with a soft spot in
her heart for her cats and dogs. She appreciated and admired
all forms of life, from bugs to plants to livestock. Katherine
always appreciated a good laugh, except during a frantic
search for her keys/glasses/purse. Her humor, kindness, and
eternal optimism were parts of her personality that we will
miss dearly. She was intelligent, inquisitive, an active learner
and enjoyed a good conversation. Katherine was an amazing
role model to her children and grandchildren, and we will carry
on that legacy in her memory.
A celebration of life will be held a later date, in summer 2023.
