Donna Rae Krushell
passed away at age 79 on January 8, 2023.
Donna loved reading historical romance novels as well as science fiction and fantasy stories. Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter were among her favourites. She was a speed reader so went through many books in her retirement years. She was an avid gardener growing lilies and gladiolas as well as running a greenhouse for years with her husband Vic. Every spring she would set up the adventure trail in the spruce hedge at the farm for the grandkids to go on nature adventures finding all kinds of creatures (figurines) that Donna collected over the years. Her love of animals stared with her horse Velvet when she was a teen, she would play tag with Velvet in the field at the family farm. Becoming a vet was not an option at the time so Donna took her care giving nature into nursing where she blessed many patients over the years with her care and friendship. She was blessed with that same care from the angels at the Good Sam in Stony Plain over the last few years.
Donna is survived by her four children; Jay, Jeff, Tracy and Gary; their spouses and her 9 grandchildren as well as her Aunty Madge, Brother Ian, Sister Linda and their families.
Donna weas predeceased by her husband Victor and her parents Marion and Robert Sutherland.
The immediate family will have a private service on Friday January 13th and an extended family celebration in the summer in honour of Donna. She will rest with her parents in the Westlock Cemetery later this year.
Donations in Donna’s honour can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society. There services are offered free of charge thanks to the generosity of donations and make a difference in the lives of people living with dementia. Our family appreciated the support they provided on Donna’s journey.
