Anna Kryger
1939-2022
Anna passed away peacefully on February 14, 2022 at the age of 82, in Edmonton, after a short battle with ALS. She was born on the family homestead at Gardenview, AB, the seventh of nine children. Anna took a licensed practical nursing (LPN) course in 1960 and began working in Jasper, Alberta. For the next decade, she nursed in some of Canada`s most remote communities for Indigenous Health. Anna worked for the Red Cross mobile team collecting blood, and as an operating room technician or LPN at the University of Alberta, Aberhart and Royal Alexandra Hospitals. She loved adventure and travel. The highlight was working holidays in Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain. Anna traveled Canada from coast to coast but always returned to Alberta and the Rocky Mountains. After retirement, she did private nursing and palliative care. After a major surgery in 2013, she moved into Virginia Park Independent Living, where she enjoyed retirement to the fullest.
Anna valued her faith, family and friends above earthly possessions. She was a special aunt to her three generations of nieces and nephews, babysitting and taking them on trips. She supported her family in times of need, helping out on farms, cooking, baking and doing chores. Her special gift was doing nursing care and her great sense of humour. She was always positive and cheerful.
She is survived by her sisters: Hilda (Allan), Josie, Lily (Herbert), sister-in-law Anne, nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
Anna was predeceased by her parents, Kristof and Olga, her step-mom, Erna, brothers Oswald, Godfrey, William, Edward, sister Ollie, nephews Kenneth, Timothy, Mark and Michael, and in-laws Ervin, Janeen, Jack, Katie, Albert and Bernice.
