Shalaine LaFrance
It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Shalaine, who departed this world on October 16th, 2023. She was a devoted daughter and mother, a cherished sister, and a remarkable friend to many. Shalaine was a remarkable and fun-loving mom who brought joy and beauty to the lives she touched.
At the young age of 14, Shalaine was diagnosed with Diabetes, but she did not let this diagnosis define her life; instead, she embraced life to the fullest. Demonstrating that diabetes was just part of her life, not the entirety of it. Though Shalaine’s journey was marked by struggles, it was also illuminated by moments of triumph and joy. She cherished the support of family and friends who stood by her side through the highs and lows of her battle with diabetes.
She is survived by her mother Arlene, children Kierra (Austin) and Jode, brothers Mark, Terry (Dawn), and Greg, and a host of relatives and friends who will forever cherish the moments they shared with her. She is predeceased by her father Lloyd, and brother Darrell.
A celebration of Shalaine’s life will not be held at this time as per her wishes, a family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in her honor to the Alberta Diabetes Foundation.
