Eric (Rick) Lane

January 2, 1947 – January 1, 2022

Eric (Rick) Lane (January 02, 1947, Saskatoon, SK to January 01, 2022, Edmonton, AB). Red measles at the age of two left Rick with severe lifelong hearing loss. Rick worked different jobs: construction, blaster in a coal mine, vacuum truck driver, tire/brake man, cleaner of chemical tanks, and tree planter/trimmer on Edmonton’s roadsides. Rick fondly recalled his visits to Australia/New Zealand, Mexico, Hawaiii, Spain and Ireland. Rick was a voracious reader of history and archeology. He enjoyed his hobby of metal detecting. Rick moved to Athabasca in 1996 to live with his widowed mother. He worked for APL and later for Athabasca Waste Management, retiring in 2018. In 2021 he moved to Edmonton.

Rick is survived by his sister Marilyn (Adrianus) Mol, brother-in-law Ken Dahms, nephews and nieces Tim (Elle) Prokopetz, Todd Prokopetz, Daniel Mol, Catherine Mol (JP Lacasse), Miriam (Jacob) Payne, Michael (Lori) Dahms and Andrew (Tera) Dahms, as well as great-nieces and nephews, four aunts, and numerous cousins.

Rick was predeceased by his parents Eric and Dorothy Lane, sisters Patricia Prokopetz and Laurie Dahms, and brother-in-law Milton Prokopetz.
At Rick’s request there will be no service.
