Arthur Herbert Mantey

Arthur Herbert Mantey was born on August 13, 1933 to Julius and Olga Mantey and passed away on May 7, 2021 at the age of 87.

He was predeceased by his father at the age of one year old; his adopted father Louis Meckelberg; his mother Olga Meckelberg and sister Marlene Degner and her husband Herman. He is survived by his loving wife, Talita of 66 years, sons, Harold (Heidi) of Camrose and Herb (Derra) of Barrhead; grandchildren, Daniel (Megan), Steven (Allyson), Julie (Matt), Stacy and four great grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brother, Adolph (Theresa), sister-in-law, Irma (Helmut) and sister-in-law, Ingrid (George), and nieces and nephews.

Art will be remembered for his steadfast faith in Jesus Christ. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be missed dearly. He was known for his hard work, his loving kindness, stability for his family, community and church. Art was born on the farm and started farming at the age of 17. With great pride, he harvested 70 crops. He was a long time member of the Barrhead Chapter of the Gideons and with joy, distributed Bibles to many Grade 5 students over the years.

Donations can be made to the Gideons or the charity of one’s choice.

On his final night, Art prayed for his family, turned to Talita and said: “We had a wonderful life together; we will not be parted for long.” With that, he lay down and fell asleep.

A private family Graveside Service was held at Manola Cemetery.
