Marion Gaylord

Posted

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marion Elizabeth Gaylord (Underwood) on Monday, February 3, 2020, at the age of 87 years.

Marion was born in Westlock, Alberta, the eldest child of Marion and Judd Underwood. She attended school in Athabasca, graduating Grade 12 at the age of 16 years.

She worked for the telephone company after graduation until she moved to Edmonton where she trained to be an accountant at Price Waterhouse. She spent her working career in accounting, first in Edmonton, then Athabasca when she moved back to the family farm in South Athabasca.

She spent the next 40+ years in South Athabasca with her partner Alvin and son Joe and family. Her last six or seven years were plagued with ill health and hospital stays, but she always remained strong and accepting of her conditions.

She was predeceased by her parents; Marion and Judd Underwood; granddaughter Sherri Gaylord; son Joe Gaylord; brother-in-law Ric Croteau; and niece Tracy Croteau. Most recently, she lost her very devoted partner of 45 years, Alvin Ellis, whom she missed greatly. We take comfort that they have been reunited together.

She leaves to mourn her loss her granddaughter; Lori Gaylord and great grandchildren Teagan and Declan, granddaughter Krystin (Kyle) Minns and great grandchildren William, Lincoln and Maria (Dan); her sister Diane Croteau and nephew Tyson (Shayna) Croteau; her sister Barbara (Justin Compton) Underwood, nephew Chris Compton, niece Jamie (Steve) Strembesky and their children Emmily, Jessica, and Sydney.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at the South Athabasca Hall with Pastor Lyle Lewis officiating.
