Jean (Jantje) Marissen (nee DeRoode)
Went to be with her Lord on January 19th, 2023 at the age of 88 years.
Born in The Netherlands on July 9th, 1934, Jean married Hendrik (Hank) Marissen on March 25, 1955 and soon after they immigrated to Manitoba, Canada. In 1980 they moved to Barrhead, Alberta and eventually to Aldergrove B.C. Upon retirement they then moved back to Alberta, settling in the hamlet of Neerlandia. For the last 16 years Jean has been a resident at Shepherd’s Care.
Jean was predeceased by her husband Hank, her daughter ElizabethVenhuis, grandson Adrian Bruinsma and granddaughter Eleanor Froma.
Jean is survived by her sisters, Frances (Henk) Slaa, Andrea (Henk ) Jaspers, and Hetty (Geuse) Deuzeman. Her loving children, Jack (Wilma) Marissen, Ralph Marissen, Henrietta(John) Froma and Caroline (Ido) Helder along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Private interment will be held at the Neerlandia Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her husband Hank. Service to be held at the Barrhead Canadian Reformed Church at 11:30 on Thursday January 26, 2023 officiated by Pastor WB Slomp.
