Marney Elaine Lewis (Maskaluk)

passed away at the age of 75 on March 1, 2024,

at Westlock Continuing Care after a long battle

with Alzheimer’s.

Marney was a loving wife, daughter, sister, mother, stepmother,

grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and great aunt.

She was predeceased by her husband Henry Lewis in 2020, her

mother Marjorie Bates, Stepfather Jim (Robert) Bates.

Marney will be missed by her sister Donna Bellerive (Aram),

children Dwayne Hunking (Susan), Kim Coelho (Lino), stepchildren

Trevor Lewis, Tara Lewis, and Brenda Lewis. She had 5

grandchildren, Megan, Corbin, and Evertte Bannon, Lukas and

Ashlynne Coelho, 3 step grandchildren Deon, Jeffery Plamondon

and Danielle Swanson (Plamondon), nephews Kevin Bates-Hynes

and Cory Bates-Hynes. As well as a great niece and nephews.

Marney was born in Toronto, Ontario on January 14, 1949.

Marney studied as a legal secretary and later became a

Registered Nurses Assistant. For several years she worked

in Long Term Care facilities in Ontario. Eventually moved

to Norman Wells, NWT, to join her sister Donna there.

Marney worked as a childcare provider in Norman Wells.

She met her husband in Norman Wells and married Henry

on September 14, 1991. Later they moved to Sherwood Park,

where she worked at a Day Care. They retired to BC for a few

years then relocated back to Westlock, Alberta. She worked at

Hardies Restaurant for a short period of time before her health

changed her life.

A heartfelt thank you to Marney’s caregivers at Westlock Long Term

Care and Doctor Coulson. They looked after her since August 2011.

There will be no service. Cremation has taken place, and a family

interment will follow at a later date when Marney will be placed

by her husband’s side at Perryvale Cemetery, Alberta.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta.
