It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Zilinski of Spruce Valley on February 11,2020 at the age of 94 years.

Mary is survived by her children Lorna, Joyce, Sharon, Judy (Gord) Jackiw, Ed, Gordon (Kathy), daughter-in-law Pat, 7 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her husband Nick, son Allen son-in-law Arnold Barker.

In 1931 Mary, her mother and 4 siblings immigrated from Poland to Canada to the Spruce Valley area where her father claimed a homestead. Mary met Nick Zilinski and married in 1944. Together they developed their Spruce Valley farm and raised their 7 children. Mary was an avid gardener. She was known for her huge garden and raspberry patch which she enjoyed sharing with family and friends.

Mary's children and family were very dear to her. She enjoyed their visits and all family gatherings. Neighbors and friends were always welcome. Mary and Nick enjoyed holidays with their friends and family to British Columbia, Cuba, Mexico, Alaska and Ukraine. Visiting with neighbors, playing canasta and in later years meeting for coffee at Prosvita were enjoyable pastimes. In 2008 they moved to Wildrose Villa in Boyle for their later years of retirement. Mary enjoyed all the activities at the Villa, took up painting and especially enjoyed the card games. Mary was in good health up to the last month of her life and passed peacefully.

A service officiated by Pastor Trevor Yeaman was held to honor Mary at Grassland Hall on February 15. The family would like to thank everyone for attending, for the beautiful flowers and donations to the Wildrose Villa and The Road to Hope. We would also like to thank the staff at Wildrose Villa and the Boyle Healthcare Center for their care.
