Johannes (Joe) Mast
March 2, 1935 - August 24, 2021
Joe Mast was called home to His Lord and Saviour on the afternoon of August 24, 2021, after a 3 1/2 week hospital stay. He was born on March 2, 1935 in Neerlandia, Alberta on the family farm, where he grew up with his parents and siblings. He met his wife, Maryke Postma, at a Young People’s rally in Neerlandia and they married one year later. Their marriage was blessed with 5 children, 22 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Joe loved to farm and hunt, and felt blessed to live out his days on the homestead where he was born. He put his faith in the Lord and we are comforted knowing that he has gone on to eternal glory.
Joe is survived by his 5 children, David Mast, Ronald (Chaturi) Mast, Ramona (Wesley) Wierenga, Trevor (Gwen) Mast, and Renate (Johan) Grosman; also by his 22 grandchildren, Victoria Mast, Cody (Arianne), Tyrel ( Hayley), Leah, and Jamin Mast, Colton (Courtney), Whitney (Ryan), Luke, Isaiah, Mariah, Austin, and Noah Wierenga, Jacob, Kirkland, Jordyn and Kade Mast, and Kalynn, Samuel, Cheyenne, Peyton, Kinsley and Jonah Grosman; also by his 7 great grandchildren, Corbyn, Vince and Ayla Mast, Amelia Mast, Micah and Ryker Wierenga, and Dominic Froma; also by 1 brother: John (Hennie) Mast.
He is predeceased by his wife, Maryke (2011), his parents, Albert and Everdina Mast, as well as 6 brothers, 4 sisters and their spouses.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday August 31, 2021 at Neerlandia Christian Reformed Church.
