Vera McConaghy
Nov. 15, 1917 – May 4, 2022
Our beautiful matriarch left with her angels after 104 years of a life dedicated to love and compassion. Vera was adored by all who knew her, and her gift of making everyone feel special in her large family will never be forgotten. Her love and kindness was matched with her wicked wit and love of adventure.
Vera had 10 children with her husband Doug (passed Sept. 1977), three of whom predeceased her (Karen 2002, Billy 2004, Darlene 2021).
She leaves behind Fred, Jim, Noni, Danny, Shanny, Tracy and Dean, as well as 96 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and her beloved sons and daughters-in-law.
Her large clan often spent time at her house in Smith where she cooked her family favourite - homemade noodles. Vera lived in her own home until the age of 100, when she moved to Smithfield Lodge in Westlock. Sharp as a tack right until the end, she always said she was blessed with such a large loving family.
A celebration of life will be held at the Smith Community Complex on May 29th, 2022
at 1:00, followed by a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Spiral of Life Cancer Support Group, which was founded by her daughter Karen Willis in the early 90s: PO Box 385 Smith, AB T0G 2B0.
