Merle Neufeld
We are profoundly saddened by the passing of our Mother Merle Joy Neufeld (Tinkle). Our mother passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on January 21, 2023 at Sturgeon Hospital in St Albert surrounded by her family. Mom passed after a lengthy battle with an aneurysm.
Merle was Born May 1st 1936 in Ashmont Alberta. Predeceased by her parents Edward & Thelma Locke; her husband James Neufeld, who she married in 1959 until James death in 2010 from cancer.
Survived by siblings Mel Locke, Jocelyn Stanway (predeceased) Darlene Locke, Melody Jackson, Michell Allen.
Our Mom & Dad raised 6 children, Melvin, Clay, Joel (Tracy), Teresa (Al), Oren, & Wade (Latanya); 11 grandchildren Travis & Britanee Neufeld. Colby Neufeld, Kelsey Germain, Rian Beaulieu, Justus & Marshall Neufeld, Myrissa Neufeld, Jacob & Rourke Neufeld, Gary Buttnor; 2 great-grandchildren Louie Neufeld & Archer Neufeld. Mom had an extended family of nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to mention, loved them and was dearly loved by all of them.
Our Mom was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter and auntie and touched the lives of all that knew her.
Mom loved all animals and was especially fond of horses. We had several on our acreage growing up north of Edmonton. Mom always had a smile on her face, an incredibly generous spirit and welcomed everyone with open arms. And always had a coffee pot on.
Merle’s ashes will be laid to rest in Ashmont Cemetery alongside her mother, father & husband in the spring summer of 2023. Memorial service details to be determined.
