Darin Peters

July 23, 1975 – July 20, 2023

Darin Daniel Peters, born July 23, 1975 in Winkler,

MB to Cornelius and Helen Peters. He was the youngest

of 15 children. He passed away July 20, 2023 at the

age of 47. He was loved and will be greatly missed by his

remaining 12 siblings.

Helen (Werner) Taulien, Brett Peters, Abe (Susan) Peters,

Suzanne Banman, Mary Peters, William Peters, Elizabeth

Boille, Hank Peters, Cheri Schroeder, Jake (Cathy) Peters,

Dave (Theresa) Peters, Nancy (Rob) Zenari.

He was predeceased by his father, Cornelius Peters,

Mother, Helen Peters, Sister, Nadine Peters, Sister,

Margaret Wood, and son, Dillon Moon.

He was born in Winkler and lived in Roseisle, MB on a farm

until he was 9 with his dad and siblings. At this young

age, his dad passed away and Darin and Nancy moved to

Barrhead, AB to live with their older brother, Abe and his

wife Susan and their two children Rebekah and Daniel.

This is where he spent his childhood.

Darin loved hunting, and everything to do with guns. As

a child that was all he would live for. He knew all the

statistics about guns-velocity, size of bullet, speed it

traveled. No one would be able to challenge him on these

facts. He used his pellet gun to shoot anything in sight. He

earned the nickname “robin killer” by his brothers. He also

liked to go fishing with his brothers.

When he was a young adult, he moved to St. Albert to live

with his brothers, Dave and Jake. He worked construction

with them for many years, off and on. He moved back and

forth between St. Albert and Barrhead.

Darin loved his siblings very much. He counted Abe as

his dad and Susan as his mama. In his final days he

was very upset that Abe was very sick and spent many

nights crying and wondering how he would make it when

he passed.

He was a very kind and caring person. He would help

anyone, even at his own expense. He had a very crazy

sense of humor and tried to make everyone laugh. His

great love was for cats. Until he left home, he had a cat

named Rainbow that he spoiled. The rest of his life, he

always had multiple cats.

Darin had a son, Dillon, that he loved very much. He didn’t

stay together with his mother, but as he grew up he tried

to have a relationship with him. When he died, it was

almost more than Darin could take.

Even though Darin struggled most of his life with an

addiction to alcohol, he had a deep rooted faith in God.

He liked to listen to Billy Graham and Chuck Swindol and

gospel music. Two of the people he would listen to were

Jimmy Swaggart and Hank Williams Sr. He had memorized

much scripture as a child and never forgot it.

(The service was held Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Bethel

Pentecostal Church in Barrhead.)
