They raised a family of four children, enjoying every minute on their mixed farming operation in the Forfar District, west of Athabasca. Mom loved her flowers and gardening, always busy outside weeding and caring for her plants. She was active in the community, attending meetings of the Forfar Hall, helping out with donations of food for the fall suppers, hosting NFU meetings in the living room of their home, holding the Secretary position for the Forfar Cemetery and was a dedicated member of the Anglican Church.
