Clifford G. Prather

20 January 1934 – 11 September 2023

The family of Cliff, of Abee, Alberta, sadly announces his passing after a brief illness. He is survived by his daughter Lenora Prather (Stuart Lanz), son Kevin (Eileen), grandchildren Tarryn, Niyanah, Gwen, Emily and Rixford (Cardinals), and two great-grandchildren, Alphonse and Briella. He’s also survived by brothers Robert (Sonja), Fred (Adelle) and sisters Louise Drynan, Diane Ehlert and Judith Beeston, many nieces and nephews.

Cliff was predeceased by parents William and Kathleen, grandson Elijah Cardinal, sisters Janet Berg and Noella Zayezierski, and brothers-in-law Stan Zayezierski, Larry Ehlert, James Drynan, Bob Beeston, and Gerry Berg.

Born on the homestead near Burtonsville, AB, Cliff was schooled at Woodgrove and Abee.  He quit school at age 15 to toil for his keep in the “bush” at Smith.  He became proficient in many occupations, ultimately qualifying as a pressure welder. He plied his trade many years for Edmonton Public School Board until  retiring to Abee where he leaves behind many dear friends.  We hasten to include his sad separation from treasured “Calling Lake connections.”

Cliff requested cremation, no funeral, opting for an informal private (family and closest of friends) fair weather inurnment at Abee Community Cemetery.

We are grateful to medical and all staff of Redwater Hospital for easing Cliff’s departure.  Donations may be made to any preferred charity.
