Darrel Reed

September 21, 1953 – June 11, 2022

Darrel was born on the 21st of September, 1953. He was the 4th son of Allan and Bessie Reed of Barrhead, where he was raised on the family farm.

Darrel met the love of his life Lorraine Polard from Sunset House, Alberta. He knew she was his soulmate and together they would have a life filled with adventures. They married on the 21st of July,1979 and together built a house on the farm they bought in SunsetHouse. This was the start of their lifelong journey together. Darrel worked rigs, operated heavy-duty machinery, and started his own water hauling company to keep the family farm going. They still enjoyed this way of life.

Darrel was the epitome of friend; he always knew when someone needed help. He would show up and support in any way required; no questions asked. Darrel treated everyone with respect and lived by the farmer’s creed a man’s greatest possession is his dignity. He believed hard work and honest sweat were the building blocks of a person’s character. Family and many neighbours enjoyed the benefit of his friendship.
