REGEHR, Walter

Walter was a powerful warrior in our family, forcefully taking action to nurture, guide and protect those he loved.

Dad passed away peacefully in the early morning of May 2, 2021. Our family, Jim (Brenda), Karen (Nick), Kevan (Debbie), Wayne (Jan) and Terrie (Garry) and all of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren carry many memories of this man who loved, supported and shaped us.

Dad was born December 26, 1927 and predeceased by his loving wife, Kay, his infant grandson Nathan Scott, his parents, Peter and Katrina and brothers, Ed, Fred and John. He is survived by his sister Alice (Erwin) and brothers Gerry (Eula) and Art (Paula).

Dad and Mom, throughout their life together have lived in and around Edmonton. They started life together in the Tofield area, moved to Calahoo, settled in the area of Westlock (Pibroch) and then moved to south Edmonton. In each community Dad and Mom found communities of faith and actively participated in serving those communities.

Dad was known for his clear sense of what was right, straightforward integrity, unshakeable faith and profound love for his wife and family. Dad engaged with the communities around him, particularly through ministries related to education and youth.

Dad was always practical and purposeful in his life. He made decisions based upon his faith and love for his family. We will miss his experience laden counsel, his commitment to help his family and faith community and his evident enjoyment of his family.

As a family we are so thankful for the support Dad had at Shepherd’s Care Millwoods. The staff, led by Mercy, went above and beyond to keep Dad safe and sane during this past year. Thank you all.

Because of COVID restrictions the virtual memorial service for Dad will be held Tuesday evening, July 6th. Following the service those attending will be invited to a digital wake using the Zoom platform. The digital wake will provide opportunities to corporately remember Walter in conversation with the family.

Information regarding the service will be posted on Dad’s Obituary Page with Glenwood Funeral Home and Cemetery, www.arbormemorial.ca/en/glenwood/obituaries/walter-regehr/66184
