Anna May Reid                  

April 1st, 1932 - December 31st, 2023

Anna was born in Springside, Saskatchewan on April 1, 1932 to parents Maria and Herman Gerger.

Anna moved to Athabasca to wed her fiancé, Jim Reid, Dec 29,1951,  where the couple continued to live and raise their family of 7 children.  Anna dedicated her life to her family and was the glue that held the family together. In 1981, Jim and Anna established their business, Southbend Vacuum Service.  Working from home Anna took on the full-time role of Secretary, Bookkeeper & Dispatcher and continued her work for the next 40 years. She was 89 years old when she retired.  All who knew Anna thought of her as a cheerful, pleasant, and kind person.

Anna is survived by her children; Lyle (Lynnet) Reid, Joanne (Zelman) Smith, Elaine (Jeff) Loewen, Donna (Scott) Bell, Tracy (Mike) Baron, Rob Reid; and her sister, Ileen Alberts.

13 Grandchildren: Charlene Reid, Shon (Rachelle) Reid, Randy (Karen) Zelman, Scott (Grace) Zelman, Leanne (Blaine) Burritt, Lynn (Will) Bell, Laurie (Niel) Bell, Candace (Mike) Fulk, David (Anna) O’Brien, Luke (Cheryl) Baron, Ory Baron, Evan Reid, Denine (Kris) Jonasson.

20 Great-Grandchildren: Mayson (Brad) Duigo, Kaylan Duigo, Halle Reid, Emery Reid, Spencer Zelman, Katey (Erik) Labrie, Eric Zelman, Sarah (Steve) Zelman, Devin (Shalyce) Zelman, Josh Burritt, Bailey Burritt, Rylan Burritt, Braxton Burritt, Reanne (Jamie) Reid, Derick Schell, Zander Webb, Ellie O’Brien, Logan Baron, Amelia Baron, Benjamin Baron.

3 Great-Great Grandchildren: Ashby Picard, Liv Picard, and TBA Baby Girl Labrie

Anna was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Jim Reid 2021; son, Lorne Reid 1991; Granddaughter, Andrea Reid 2007; son-in-law, Roger Smith 2005.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Special thanks to Extendicare Athabasca where Mom was a resident for 2 years, for their care and compassion.
