MARCH 23, 1935 - FEBRUARY 26, 2023
Adèle Marie Lorraine Salé (nee Patry) was
born March 23, 1935 in Athabasca and
passed away with family by her side on
February 26, 2023 at the age of 87. Adèle is
survived by her husband Norman and their
six children (Lorraine and Morley Knudslien,
Paulette and Wes Nimco, Theresa Salé, Yvette
and John Haggerty, Loretta and Bruce Ford,
and David Salé), cherished grandchildren and
great grandchildren (with another on the way).
Adèle was pre-deceased by her sisters:
Sister Yvonne Patry and Annette Lehmann.
Adèle was raised on a farm west of Athabasca
and trained to be a Registered Nurse at the
General Hospital in Edmonton. She was
a nurse in Wetaskiwin/Westlock for three
years after marrying Norman in 1959. They
purchased and moved to the Salé family
farm in 1963. Adèle worked hard on the farm
alongside Norman and always had a large
garden. She returned to nursing in 1974 at the
Athabasca Hospital until she retired in 1994.
Adèle was known for her love of gardening,
good cooking (especially fish and moose),
baking cakes and pies, and chuck wagon
racing. She had many stories of her years
growing up which she was able to recall right
to her last day.
Thank you to Dr. Coulson (Westlock) and
Dr. Schaub (Athabasca) for caring for our wife
and mother over the years. Special thank
you to the staff of Athabasca Hospital and
Extendicare Athabasca for their care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
Athabasca Health-Care Auxiliary Association
or St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church.
Please join her family for prayers at the
Athabasca Community Chapel the evening
of March 3 at 7p.m. The funeral will be held at St. Gabriel’s Church on March 4 at 11:00 a.m.
A lunch will be served in the
church basement following
a private family internment.
