David Wayne Saumer, age 78, of Barrhead, Alberta, passed away peacefully August 3rd, 2021, from emphysema.
Dave was born on February 27th, 1943, in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. He had nine brothers and sisters as well as two step sisters. He met his future bride Marlene, in Edmonton, Alberta. He was married to his wife, Marlene Saumer, for
56 years. They lived in Edmonton and Spruce Grove for many years before moving to Barrhead. Dave worked for the Hudson Bay Company and the United Farmers Association (UFA) for a number of years before retiring in Barrhead. For many years Dave and Marlene enjoyed travelling to British Columbia with close friends where they golfed and visited family. Dave loved golfing and visiting the casino.
Dave is survived by his wife, Marlene and his two children, Teresa (his daughter)and her husband Marlin, and Shawn (his son) and his partner, Phong, as well as his two grandchildren, Christian and Daniel and their spouses Jenna and Priscilla. He has two remaining living siblings (Lyle and Willa) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by a son and several brothers and sisters.
Dave requested no funeral, memorial or wake. He will be deeply missed.
