It is with great sadness that we announce the passing
of Kathleen Josephine Schultz (nee Schroeder).
Kay was the youngest of four children, born on
December 4, 1940 in Craik, Saskatchewan; the family
later moved to Coronation, AB where Kay grew up. Kay
married Leo Schultz in 1973 and they made their home
on the family farm in Barrhead. She and Leo helped to
care for Leo’s parents over the years, raised crops and
cattle, cats and dogs, and grew amazing gardens. Kay
loved the arts and had a talent in floral design. Her love of
flowers led to her future career as a florist for Bonnie Doon
Flowers and later for Flower Lane in Barrhead.
Kay was predeceased by her parents Gregory and
Josephine Schroeder, her sister, Sr. Dolores Schroeder
and her brother, Greg Schroeder. Kay leaves to mourn
her husband Leo Schultz, her sister Bernie Bergwall,
numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews as well as close
friends Kory Kopf and family. The family wishes to thank
the Cross Cancer Institute and the Barrhead Community
Health Centre for the wonderful care that she received.
Kay had requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be
made to the Stollery Children’s Hospital. A Memorial Mass
will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday March 2, 2023 from
St. Ann’s RC Church.
