It is with heavy hearts that the family of Wayne Arnold Sheren of Barrhead/Fort Assiniboine, announce that he has passed away after a short battle with cancer at the age of 73. Wayne was born in the U Of A Hospital in March 1950 and brought home to the family farm in Timeu, AB where he was raised, went to school in Fort Assiniboine from which he graduated in 1970.

In September of that year, he married Carol who was also raised in Timeu. They started their married life in a tiny mobile home and lived in it for 6 years. They then purchased a larger mobile home and installed running water for the farm and their home. They remained there until 1988, when they moved to Doris, AB after purchasing a property there which also had a mobile home on it. In 1993, they built their new home, which was the home of their dreams. By that time, the children were almost grown and beginning to venture out on their own.

Wayne worked in the sawmill and logging industry 10 support his family and remained in the same industry until he retired in 2001 or thereabouts. He was fortunate and was offered different opportunities to invest and become a part owner of Timeu Forest Products which was a major employer for the Fort Assiniboine area for many years. An offer was made to him in 1999 to purchase his share in the mill that he couldn’t refuse. He remained with the company for 2-3 more years and finally retired at the age of 53 or so. He taught his sons what he knew about working in the bush, and they ended up starting their own business in the logging industry. They are still doing that, quite successfully as well. Candace has her own successful business as well, and he was very proud of all of them.

Wayne was a man of few words, but that was just the man he was. He and Carol travelled quite a bit until his arthritis and roots kept them closer to home. They spent the last several years enjoying curling and bowling in winter, and camping and golfing in summer. In the spring of 2023, they decided to move to Barrhead to save traveling time for all their activities. They moved into their new property in July, and enjoyed the time of setting it up like they wanted, with plans to do more in the spring. Unfortunately, in the fall, he became more and more sick and in November received the cancer diagnosis.

Wayne leaves to mourn his wife of 53 years Carol, sons Robert (Joyce) and Steven (Vicki) and daughter Candace (Darrell) and their families, Kristin (Paul), Brandon, Charlie (Victoria), Jennalee, Hailey (Ray), Annette (Devin) and Hunter, Also sisters Mary Ann, Joan and Brother Eddy, brothers in law Phil and Chris; as well as numerous extended family and friends.
