Paul Soltys
Paul Soltys of Westlock, AB passed away on Oct 4, 2021 at the age of 85 years.
Paul is survived by his wife of 59 years, Audrey, son Edwin (Joni), granddaughters Carmen and Katelyn, sister Annie, sister-in-law Eleanor (Jim) and brother-in-law Don (Shirley), plus numerous nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Katie, and his brother-in-law Alex.
Paul was born on Sept 29, 1936 to Safron and Mary, who homesteaded in the Tawatinaw area. Paul attended school in Tawatinaw, held various jobs through young adulthood and eventually started a successful business, Westlock Disposal. Second only to Audrey, the farm was Paul’s passion. He continued grain farming and gardening well into his 80s.
Paul married Audrey in 1962. The two were inseparable, partners in life and business. Throughout the years they enjoyed gardening, dancing, travelling, bowling, and volunteering. Edwin was fortunate to share in these happy times. They even shared a lake lot at Baptiste for many years. Paul was very close with his family; many holiday gatherings were brightened by his humour and kindness.
A private interment was held at Tawatinaw Cemetery on Oct 8th.
We wish to give special thanks to Dr. DaCunha, Theresa Raines and Associated Medical staff for supporting Dad all these years, and to the caring staff at Westlock Continuing Care who ensured Paul and Audrey had lots of quality time together.
