SPEARIN, Anthony Joseph “Tony”

Thursday, December 12, 1946 – Thursday, December 14, 2023

Age 77

With saddened hearts and loving remembrance the family of Mr. Tony Spearin of Red Deer, AB formerly of Dapp, AB passed away peacefully in Red Deer, AB with his son, Ben at his side.

Tony was born in Westlock, AB, the first son of Robert and Merilda Spearin. Growing up, Tony was eager to help on the family farm on the Pembina River 3 miles west of Dapp, AB. He always loved children and was a big help with his 2 younger sisters and 3 younger brothers. He attended Dapp School from grade 1 to 9 then attended high school at Westlock Public School. He studied Mechanics at NAIT then worked for over 40 years as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic. He was organized, resourceful and always fixing or building things, to say he was a “perfectionist” is an understatement. He was GERNEROUS to all and won an award from the Red Cross for the most donations of blood.

Tony leaves behind his cherished wife Darlene of 52 years, his eldest son Tyler and his youngest son, Ben, and his grandson Jett. He will forever be loved and missed by his siblings: Evelyn (Lorne), Frank, Rita, Jim (Bernadette) and Malcolm (Maryann); many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.

We sincerely thank the cheerful caregivers at Timberstone Mews and Bethany Collegeside in Red Deer, AB where Tony spent the last 5 years of his life, for their devoted care.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday February 3rd, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. in the St. Finnan Catholic Church, Dapp, AB followed by a time of fellowship at the Dapp Community Hall. Please join the Spearin family in honouring our brother Tony.

In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in Tony’s name to your favourite charity.
