Kenneth Richard Stafford

Kenneth Richard Stafford was born February 3, 1938 and passed peacefully at home on January 17, 2024 at the age of 85 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Ken is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Thelma; sons Chris and Darcy, 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 1 sister, 2 nephews, 2 nieces and more friends and colleagues to count.

Ken was born in Athabasca and spent his entire life here. He started Stafford Feeders in 1979 with his son Chris which they ran for 39 years before selling in 2018.

Ken was an active member of Grosmont Community Club as well as many others. Ken absolutely loved sports - if he wasn’t playing, he was watching. He played many sports over the years - basketball, baseball, golf and curling to name a few. He also enjoyed card games and looked forward to his daily games with Thelma and Darcy or anyone else that was willing to get beat. Very competitive!

Ken was blessed to have a loving family and wonderful friends. He spent countless hours golfing year round with friends either on the course or in Ken’s garage. They were always more than willing to escort Ken to appointments as needed which was greatly appreciated.

Ken will be deeply missed by all. We will hold our memories dearly.

Thank you to the caring homecare staff and to all the doctors and nurses who cared for Ken over the years.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
