Sharon Stoik
Sharon Lee Stoik (née Lyons) passed away on October 17, 2024, with her husband by her side in Barrhead, Alberta. She was born in Edmonton, Alberta in 1949, the daughter of Frank and Ethel Lyons.
After completing high school in Barrhead, Sharon graduated from Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. She then transferred to Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1972. She completed additional education courses at the University of Alberta and was certified to teach in Alberta and Utah. Sharon and Herb were married on October 5, 1972, in the Cardston Alberta Temple.They began their married life in Calgary, Alberta and returned to Barrhead in 1981.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her pure and unconditional love will be deeply missed by her husband, Herb; her children and their partners, Susan, Stephen (Anita), Richard (Amy), and Shayne (Colyssa); and her grandchildren, Abigail, Daniel, Sterling, Dryden, Nova, Talia, Marcus, and Amara. She adored her grandchildren and took every opportunity to play with them.
Sharon delighted in serving her community and the Saviour as a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a dedicated teacher and loved connecting with people. Sharon volunteered with many community organizations and served in various callings at church throughout the years. She enjoyed music, reading, gardening, and genealogy.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr.Tawfik, the nurses and staff at the BHCC, and other medical personnel who provided exceptional and compassionate care during the past few months.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Barrhead Public Library or the Barrhead District Historical Society.
Services to honour and celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 1:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (5215 56 St, Barrhead, Alberta). Interment at Lunnford Cemetery.
