STRYDHORST, Bertha
1950-2023
It is with deep sorrow that we announce that after her long battle with cancer, Bertha Strydhorst went home peacefully into our Father’s loving arms on March 21, 2023.
Bertha was born on April 1, 1950, to Albert and Styntje (VanDonkersgoed) Versteeg of Edmonton, Alberta. Bertha is lovingly remembered by her husband, Cornelius Strydhorst, her children, Randy (Carla) Strydhorst, Travis Strydhorst, Tim (Karen) Strydhorst, Jolene (Gary) Smith, Chad (Allison) Strydhorst, Wesley (Lisa) Strydhorst, Nolan (Dawn) Strydhorst, and Lorelie (Trevor) Frantik, her grandchildren, Hailey, Kianna, Avery, Amber - Skyler, Lucas (Megan), Marie, Raquelle - Kaylee, Brayden - Sapphyre, Avalon - Zachery, Jenna, Jaylene, Breton - Connor, Jaelyn - Declan, Grayson, Keenan - Leilani, and Trace, her great-grandchildren, Emmett and Bryson, and her siblings, Harry Versteeg, Mary Hofstede, Albert (Trudy) Versteeg, Gerda (Tom) Sturwold, Jean (John) Kuipers, Chris Versteeg, (Judy) Versteeg, and many other extended family members and friends. She is predeceased by her parents, Albert and Styntje Versteeg, her brother, Bill Versteeg, her sister Evelyn Wempe, and her granddaughter, Breanna.
Special thanks to the staff at Barrhead Hospital who gave such wonderful care to Bertha after her diagnosis, through the struggles of a stroke, and their loving care at the end.
Bertha loved her family and friends with tenderness, and loved Jesus with all her heart. Please join us in celebrating Bertha’s life on Wednesday, March 29, at 1:30 pm at Neerlandia Christian Reformed Church.
