Jo Ann Swinimar
Ely passed away at home on January 17, 2021 at the age of 67 years old. She was born November 1953 in Renfrew, Ontario to Lewis and Alta Swinimar. She was the youngest of two daughters. They grew up in Nova Scotia where the eldest sister still remains with her children and grandchildren.
She was a free spirited woman who lived a rich life. She was trained as a home care nurse before a stroke took her ability to work. After Hal passed in August of 1996 to cancer, she moved to New Brunswick and eventually back to Alberta settling down in Fort Assiniboine.
She was most at home amongst her cats and flowers. She knew how to turn any drap brown piece of earth into a thriving green place worth of calling home. She was fiercely loyal, generous and protective of her family and her friends. Jo Ann is survived by her sons, Paul and Greg Ely and her common law spouse, Gerry Hachey; sister, Jenneth; two nieces; two great nephews and a great niece.
