Walter John Thompson of Westlock, Alberta, passed away April 11th 2023, in Edmonton, Alberta.
He was born on February 9th, 1941, to Russell and Dorothy Thompson in Edmonton, Alberta. He married Diane Bettschen in 1967 and had two children, Michael and Scott. In 2008 Walter married Claudia Bernal who he shared the rest of his life and adventures with, from Colombia to Clyde.
Walter joined the Navy in 1959 and pursued many different interests until finding his passion in the 1970’s as a crop duster. It was as a pilot that he had the opportunity to fly all over North America and develop many long-lasting relationships.
Walter is survived by his wife Claudia, sons Michael and Scott, his brothers Robert and David, and their families.
A celebration of life and reception will be held at 3pm Saturday, April 15th, 2023 at Memories Funeral Home, 13403 St Albert Trail.
