Arlene Georgina Tomalty

March 25, 1938 - May 29, 2025

It is with great sadness that the family of Arlene Georgina Tomalty announce her passing on May 29, 2025 at the age of 87. Arlene was born on March 25, 1938 to parents George and Lillian Adair. Arlene grew up in the Campsie area alongside her brother Harold Adair. Arlene married Hap Tomalty in 1959, and they shared a happy life together for 56 years. They made their first home together in Brownsburg, Quebec where Arlene quickly bonded with Hap's family. Family and friends were so important to Arlene and those bonds remained strong even after Hap and Arlene moved back west in 1971 to live on the family farm.

Arlene was predeceased by her parents, her husband Hap, infant son George and many close relatives and friends.

She was loved and admired by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by her children: Harold Tomalty, Jo-Anne (Barry) Scinski, Patty (Lyle) Chizma; grandchildren: Ashlyn (John Patrick Daly) Tomalty, Connor Tomalty, Mitch (Krista) Ternan, Jaron (Lauren) Ternan. Karissa (fiancé Evan) Ternan, Mikaila (Mike) Zaminer, Jake (fiancé Megan) Chizma, Tyson Chizma, 10 great-grandchildren, her brother Harold (Pat) Adair as well as many other dear relatives and friends.

Family was the center of Arlene's life and despite battling MS for many years she never missed a family event. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave her so much joy. Arlene's zest for life, even when it wasn't easy, her positive attitude and unwavering determination for independence have been an inspiration to all who were blessed to have her as part of their life. No matter the situation her response was always "I'm fine." Now, as we all mourn the loss of this remarkable lady, may we find comfort in knowing that if asked today, her response would be "I'm fine!"

A celebration to honor Arlene's life will be held on June 20, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Rose Garden Chapel in Barrhead, Alberta. There will be an interment at the Barrhead Cemetery following the service. The family invites you to join them for fellowship at the Senior's Drop In Center after the service. In lieu of flowers it was Arlene's wish that donations in her memory be made to "The Barrhead Friends of the MS" or nationally to The MS Society of Canada.
