MYRNA URLACHER

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma, Myrna Urlacher, on February 22, 2025 at the age of 86.

We are grateful for all the time, memories and love she shared with us. It gives us peace knowing that she is now in the arms of her dearly missed husband and our Dad, Jerry.

She will be preciously remembered by her daughters Cheryl (Phil) Lefebvre and Dana (Greg) Schmidt.

Grandma Urlacher will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Briana (Michael) Gravel, Daniel (Natasha) Lefebvre, Nolan (Sierra) Schmidt, Nathan (Kristin) Schmidt. She leaves behind her precious great-grandchildren Brooke (Jayden), Taylor, Parker Lefebvre; Bentley, Kinsley and Oliver Gravel; Dallas and Miller Schmidt; great-great-grandson Banner. She is fondly remembered by her special niece Brenda (Darrell) Siri.

Myrna was predeceased by her parents Ernest and Marie Davenport and her 4 siblings Dennis, Martin, Lois and Doreen.

Myrna was born in Estevan, Saskatchewan and would leave home at the age of 17 to pursue her long and dedicated career of Registered Nurse. She trained with the Nuns in Moose Jaw and later moved with a close friend to Camrose, AB. It would be in Camrose that she would meet the love of her life, Jerry Urlacher. They would marry and have their family before making Barrhead their home of 57 years.

Everyone loved Myrna. She was wise, nurturing and the greatest adviser. She could read people and people were drawn to her. Myrna was grateful for all those who stopped by or may have stayed for a longer visit.

She was resilient and fearless, having endured several surgeries and cancer challenges. She handled tough times with courage. While her body may have failed her in her later years, her mind didn’t. She could easily participate in a debate, remember all the details of her nursing days, family vacations and lively adventures with Jerry. Myrna was a great cook and loved her cookbooks. If called upon, she could recite the right cookbook and page number of her favourite recipes.

Myrna was tenacious and honest. People admired her ability to share the hard truth. She was particular about her home and her appearance. She needed her hair done twice per week, her clothes tidy and her jewelry in place. Her home was always clean and precisely organized. Hours were spent moving tables and ornaments a little this way or that. Anybody that knew her also knew she was a superstitious person. It was necessary you leave out the same door you came in and dare not have the wrong number of people at dinner.

Myrna was loyal to family and friends. She was dedicated to staying in contact with both old and new friends. Her phone line was always busy. She was actively involved in each grandchild and great-grandchild’s life. Myrna balanced a work schedule and babysat each grandchild. She was grateful for the bond it built between them.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the loving and caring girls from Homecare.

In accordance with her wishes, Myrna wanted a private family service to celebrate her life.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Myrna’s name can be made to the Barrhead Healthcare Centre Auxiliary with memo: Barrhead Nursing Scholarship.
