John Morris Williams
With loving memories, we say goodbye to our father, grandfather & great grandfather on the day of his passing of May 6th, 2024, in his home.
John was born May 20th, 1932 and passed away just short of his 92d birthday. John is survived by his sons Johnny (Bobbi), Jimmy (Joie), daughter in law Janet, and daughter Carol (Graham). He also had many grandchildren, Rhonda, BJ, Dustin, Jared, Misty, Nikki, Kyle & Ashton.Along with many great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
John had a full life, born in Cochrane, ON, he spent his childhood in British Columbia, moving back to Ontario as a young man to start a career in Forestry where he met his first wife Jeannine. They had their 3 boys before moving to Alberta with only the belongings carried in their truck and car and living out of their tent alongside their lifelong friends Bill & Fonie. He started a parts career in Stettler, later moving to a farm near Rocky Mountain House where their daughter was born. He continued working in parts at Rocky Distributors until the opportunity came to have a store of his own, so they moved to Athabasca to start Athabasca Automotive in 1973. He worked hard and was very dedicated to customer service. He did not believe that a part could not be found if someone needed it. He later was able to get a quarter section near Athabasca where they raised purebred Limousine cattle. Jeannine passed away in 1994 and son Gerry in 1997.While caring for Gerry during his illness at the hospital, allowed him to get to know his second wife Maxine. They were married in 1998 and enjoyed many years together. More recently John developed a close friendship with neighbor Rheal who called each other daily to check in on each other and share stories and coffee. John loved spending time with family and friends, doing genealogy research, working in his yard and garden. John was a gentle, kind man who was always a willing volunteer of his time being a member of the Athabasca Seniors and Athabasca Lions Club. He would offer a helping hand to any neighbor or family member that needed it.
We would like to thank Wendy for the kindness and loving care she gave John during his final months. He loved having her as a caregiver and thought of her as his friend.
John was predeceased by both parents, his brother Bill, his sisters Eleanor & Flo, his first wife Jeannine, second wife Maxine, and his son Gerald.
As per John’s wishes no service will be held.
