Kenneth Stuart Wilson
January 24, 1947 – January 25, 2023
Ken Wilson passed away peacefully following a stoic 23 month long journey in the aftermath of a stroke.
Ken started working at a young age helping his father in his trucking business and moved on to other various jobs in the community. He chose to become a journeyman plumber, acquired an apprenticeship, and received his classroom training at NAIT. Ken worked as a plumber for many years supervising and guiding new recruits. Over the years, he moved into construction project management in residential subdivision development, four story walkups, and eventually high-rise condo apartments. Every venture was tackled with an organized plan and Ken took pride in the accomplishment.
He met his life partner, Dorothy (nee Saluk) at a campground halfway between Jasper and Hinton. They celebrated their 50th anniversary on April 22, 2022.
Ken is survived by his wife: Dorothy; daughter: Cassie (Brad); son: Kurt (Patti); granddaughter: Kara (Morgan); and great granddaughter: Chanel. He leaves behind his brother: Bob; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ken was predeceased by his parents: Bill and Phyllis Wilson; grandson: Devon; and brother: Richard.
Ken’s generous spirit extended out into the community lending a helping hand to friends and neighbors. He was an active member of the Canadian Progress Club for 20 years. As a co-organizer of a company golf tournament, they raised over $12,000 annually for Kids With Cancer. Ken was an avid golfer and a curious traveler. He had a wicked sense of humor and a hearty laugh that was easily recognizable. He valued friendship and family and made each person he spoke with feel special. Ken lived life.
A Celebration of Life will take place in the spring.
