Dear Editor,
Why are our politicians in such a hurry to give away our non-renewable resources? The Keystone Pipeline will create jobs for a few years, and then we will be left with the reclamation, etc. We elect our politicians to look after the citizens of Alberta, not to worry about other countries that spend their resources on wars. We could build upgraders and refineries in our own province or Canada and send the finished product to other countries. This will create jobs not only for Alberta and a source of energy in our country for many years. It seems whenever election is blooming, politicians go on a spending spree and do not consider the consequences. We trust our leaders to spend our tax money wisely. I hope the people we elect will make decisions wisely and not let the bureaucrats and oil companies run our country. I do not condone demonstration. We have this large pipeline running across Canada and many people are concerned of the long-term effects and our environment ... how else can people concerned get attention? Our leaders are no smarter than the people electing them, so the leaders should listen to the people. They are doing a fair job under demands and difficult times. If we are not careful, our grand- and great grandchildren will be working for foreign governments in our own great country and will be left with these spoils of these bad decisions.
Thank you,
Joe Smith
