Dear Editor,
After reviewing the recent letter by Alberta Health Services on water fluoridation, there are so many points to make. I will cover only a few.
• Mass medicating an entire population with hydrofluorosilicic acid that is scrubbed primarily out of the fertilizer industry stacks (and strictly not allowed to be disposed of in air, rivers, lakes, oceans or land) and without control of dose or dosage is highly unethical and unsafe.
• Fluoridation is broken - it is ineffective when ingested as it works only topically, it is unethical, and it is not safe, as many new, good, peer-reviewed studies show.
• Lowering concentration by 0.1 or 0.2 PPM does nothing to control dose. If you drink 10 glass of water per day and your neighbour drinks one, you are getting almost 10 times the dose even if the concentration is lowered slightly.
• “Expert panels” and endorsements by professional organizations are often extremely biased. This is not a good way to practise medicine.
• Plebiscites are an even more archaic and unreliable way to practise medicine. None of us has the right to medicate our neighbours.
• The decision to stop this unsafe and unethical practice of mass medicating is totally within the scope and purvey of city, regional and town councils.
Councillors are there to protect the health of all citizens, not to perhaps possibly prevent a part of a cavity in a few people.
• The Chief of Dentistry for Health Canada and Alberta Health representatives have made so many errors and misleading comments in recent presentations that they cannot be trusted to provide truthful and accurate information.
• What is needed is the moral and political courage for councils to stand up for the health of all citizens. I find it unbelievable that medical and dental professionals are still advocating for this antiquated, unethical, ineffective and unsafe practice. Nobel laureates in medicine have called water fluoridation the biggest scam ever propagated against society. There are so many good studies showing that water fluoridation is not effective while, at the same time, fluoride is accumulating in and slowly harming our brains, neurological systems, thyroid glands, kidneys, bones and other organs.
I encourage everyone to go to www.fluoridealert.org and also to read the latest excellent and well-documented book, The Case Against Fluoride.
It is not moral, ethical or safe to mass medicate without consent or monitoring. Nor should medical practice be decided by public vote or plebiscite. Let’s put a stop to this harmful practice now.
