Dear Editor,

July 7-10 saw more than 600 4-H members, leaders, parents and officials converge on Barrhead for the 13th annual Focus on 4-H. This could not have happened without the support of the local community. A special word of thanks needs to go to Dale and Maureen Greig, Laurie Messmer and Ken and Evelyn Anderson of the Barrhead Ag Society who had the grounds set up and ready for all the activities and for their understanding when cleanup plans needed to be altered. To the Town of Barrhead, especially Cindy Bowie and her staff who were available all weekend to assist whereever needed. To the County of Barrhead Ag Service Board, Champion Feeds, Servus Credit Union and All Around Oilfield – thank you for your generous contributions. A special thanks as well to the Barrhead Co-op, Ray Agro and Martin Deerline for all their help. Thank you to the 2012 grad class who set up and dismantled the box stalls. To all the other local businesses that contributed to this wonderful program, your support was very much appreciated. Thank you to all the local residents who braved the elements to come out and watch the various events and competitions. There was a great sense of community all weekend long that neither rain nor mosquitoes could dampen. We invite all youth between the ages of nine to 20 to join the 4-H movement so that you can be part of Focus on 4-H 2012. We live in a very supportive community and, because of you, our job organizing these events is much easier. Thank you.
