Dear Editor,
You never truly understand until tragedy strikes what life in a small town really is.
We lost our son on May 1, 2011. We had a parade of family and friends and childhood friends of Cody’s show up at our home to support us, and most of all his two brothers Dylan and Brady.
Everyone has offered to help us in any way they can, and we have had close friends by our side through it all. We were in the middle of renovating and our house was cleaned for us when we got home, and friends finished the painting, Leon’s installed the new carpet, Comfort Corner delivered the furniture and so on. We thanked them and the only thing they said back to us is that they wished they could do more.
We would like to thank them all for coming into our home at a time of sorrow.
We’d like to thank our longtime friends for organizing the luncheon at the United Church and Rose Garden for all their professional services. Thank you to Rev. Pype for the ability to make it as painless but heartfelt as possible. We would also like to thank the local Emergency Response team at the time of the accident for doing everything possible and this includes STARS and the Stollery Hospital. Thank you to everyone for their donations made to STARS, the Stollery Hospital and Memory of Cody Fund.
Cody touched the hearts of many people as we saw at the Celebration of his life, and we could not have wished for a better child.
There are so many people we’d like to thank in person, and we will some day, just not yet, but we know you will understand. The list is massive!
We can’t even begin to imagine how different this would be if we didn’t live in a small town.
P.S. - Dirt Road Anthem by Jason Aldean was Cody’s favourite song, so play it loud for him.
Thankful for everything you all have done,
Shawn, Tracy, Dylan and Brady Callihoo
