Overrated fees a deterrent to the truth

Dear Editor, I would like to thank the staff of both the Barrhead Leader and the Westlock News for bringing this matter of secrecy and subversion into the open.

Dear Editor,

I would like to thank the staff of both the Barrhead Leader and the Westlock News for bringing this matter of secrecy and subversion into the open. I would like to throw my support behind your effort and agree this issue needs truthful closure.

The abrupt departure and encompassing secrecy surrounding the sudden departure of Pembina Hills School Division Superintendent Richard Harvey promotes the ideal of a forced and highly irregular reaction. This alone raises eyebrows towards questionable conduct and behaviour. This then becomes of high interest to the public, whose children attend BCHS. Such a sudden and instantly permanent dismissal, as the blunt four-sentence press release suggests, coupled with Harvey’s imminent departure out of this town, is highly suspicious. A simple inquiry to the authorities has escalated into a government cover-up at the least. Either that, or the new current superintendent Egbert Stang, is a very strict man with the public office attitude that what happens behind school division doors is none of the public’s business. If this whole issue has evolved from a simple answer of family medical, then by simply stating just such an answer would have dissolved this situation. However, the school board’s action, along with the Alberta office of the FOIP Commissioner, implies a forced dismissal and blatant attempt to stop the truth from getting out. How dare our government impose overrated fees as a deterrent to someone seeking the truth!

Is this how they subvert the FOIP act?

We will all watch closely for your response Mr. Stang, a simple but encompassing explanation will cause less notoriety than a cover-up scandal.

W. Krechuniak, Barrhead
