Shameful act at Spray Park

The vandals who placed chunks of asphalt in the water buckets at the Rotary Spray Park last week should be ashamed of themselves; assuming that anyone capable of such an act even has the capacity to feel shame.

You could rack your brain all day and not come up with one single, logical reason why anybody would willfully drop a heavy slab of asphalt on an innocent child’s head. But that is essentially what happened last week.

Luckily, the girl who was struck escaped with minimal injuries. But another child (or anyone seeking refreshment on a hot summer’s day) might not have been so lucky.

The Town of Athabasca is taking steps to ensure this can’t happen again, and hopefully that won’t involve the removal of the buckets.

But how often must everyone pay the price for the actions of one reprehensible person?
